Happy Easter!!!! I hope that everyone is having a great Easter weekend. This week I ventured outside of Teacher Blogland into a new world. . . General Blogland. Sometimes I forget that there is even such a place but it is out there and just as fun. I stumbled on this fun Linky Party that is hosted by Ashley from Ashley Lately. Each week she asks 5-6 questions that are just random fun facts about yourself. I love this idea so I'm jumping in with my very first Sunday Social post.
1. What is your favorite type of workout to do?
When I workout (and truth be told it's been a while since my last trip) I'm just a simple treadmill kind of gal. I usually end the session with some sit-ups and planks. My friends keep trying to convince me to go to a Zumba class. . . maybe this summer.
2. What is your favorite guilty pleasure candy or sweet?
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Snickers and Twix.
3. What is one thing you continuously forget to do?
Check my mail. I drive by the boxes all the time when I enter my condo and for some reason I can never remember to stop.
4. Do your prefer post-its or phone reminders? Why?
Post-it notes at school and phone reminders for my personal stuff. I love the little ding my phone makes when it has a new reminder but I can't have it going off during the day while I'm teaching. You should see my desk at school ~ post-its EVERYWHERE.
5. What is your favorite picture currently on your phone that always makes you smile?
Here is a picture of me and one of my partners in crime at school. We were reading Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss hence the green hair and reindeer antlers in the middle of March.
There you have it some random stuff about me. If you would like to join in on The Social, click here. Ashley writes next weeks questions at the end of the post so you can get a jump start for next time. Well I'm off to enjoy the rest of the day with my family.

Some of you might have noticed that I haven't posted for a little bit and that's because of five wonderful words. . . I am on SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!! This week has been perfect. I love getting to do whatever I want, whenever I want. Speaking of the number five, I'm linking up once again with the super talented Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for her linky party Five for Friday.
So here are some random pictures from the past two weeks.
Spring Break = ROAD TRIP. My mom and I took a quick trip down to our old stompin' grounds, Miami for a quick mini vacay. Here are some pictures from lunch, one word ~ YUMMY!!!!!!
I get to be a guinea pig and I LOVE IT. Before I left school, I charged up these new ipod touches that our school received. I've been trying something new with them over the break. Stay tuned to see how I'm going to use them in the classroom.
Before we left for the break I read Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss so we had our kids come to school dressed up in crazy clothes. . . they really were cute.
My kinders are OBSESSED with making speech bubbles in their pictures lately. This bubble says "Wacky Wednesday is fun". We really did have fun that day, my kids crack me up.
So there you have 5 random pictures. If you want to join the party click here to link up. Well I'm off to get ready to watch some more March Madness ~ GO GATORS!!!!

This hall pass comes at a perfect time. We are closing in fast on the 120th day of school so I love the idea of chilling out and taking a little timeout. So let's get this party started.
This week I finished up my newest TPT Product ~ Shake-It and Make-It. I've been doing these sheets with my class all year long but I finally put all the parts together into this set.
If you are looking for a fun way to teach your kids about decomposing numbers to 10 then this is the packet for you. Here are some more pictures of some of the pages you will get in this set.
If you would like a chance to win this unit be sure to enter the rafflecopter below.
This is my favorite Area of my classroom my reading center. I try to switch things out throughout the year with themed books, mini books, brochures, maps, cook books, whisper phones, board books, magazines, and holiday glasses.
I use lots of Signals in my class but this is one of my new finds. If this is your product please let me know so that I can credit you because it is a LIFESAVER!!!! I have this sign on my board under my center wheel as a reminder to my students. At the beginning of the year I taught them this rule by holding up 3 fingers as my visual. During workstations if someone came up to ask me a question about their task I would hold up 3 fingers to remind them of this rule. 9 times out of 10 they would return to their table and not come back because someone in their team helped them.
Besides all of my friends at work who help to keep me together, these are my Sanity. I keep a pair of my old Nike flipflops under my table at school. After school I will immediately put these on to rest my tired feet. Sometimes I even wear them during my break when my kids are out of the room. . . shhhhh don't tell anyone.
There you have it a little glimpse into my world. If you need a hall pass click here to join the party. Well I'm off to do some blog hopping. SHINE on everyone.

SERIOUSLY there are only two days left in January???!!! It seems like I was just posting about my New Year's resolutions and then BAM the month is almost over. This week I have assessments to do, conferences to have, meetings to attend, sub plans to write oh and by the way. . . my school computer just crashed and Thursday is 100 day! WHEW, just from typing this I'm starting to freak out a little bit but like Dory says ~ "just keep swimming, just keep swimming."
Today I am sharing my very first official TPT unit that I finished up this weekend.
If you are looking for some idea for 100 day, swing on over and check out my packet by clicking here. I combined all of the 100 day activities that I've done over the years into this one unit. It includes three family projects, an adorable craftivity, math items, writing prompts, certificates, a 100 day necklace, and lots of classroom pictures. Here's a sneak peek at some of my favorite pages.
There are so many items included in these 43 pages that I'm actually starting our 100 Day celebration one day earlier and we might not finish until next week. I'm linking up with one of my favorite bloggers Denise from Sunny Days in Second Grade for her linky party. If you want to see some more great idea or if you would like to link up, just click here to join the fun.
Well I'm off to paper cut my link chains for Thursday.

WOW I can't believe that 2012 is almost officially over. For the past few years I haven't made any resolutions but when I saw all of the linkys floating around in blogland I couldn't resist. To kick things off I'm linking up with three (that's right I said THREE) of my favorite bloggers Jen from The Teachers' Cauldron Amy from Step into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons and Amanda from Teaching Maddeness.
My personal goals 1. Stay connected with my friends. I can't say this enough. . . my friends ROCK. During this crazy hectic year they have been my lifesavers. My goals is to REALLY make more of an effort to call / txt message / email / Skype / FaceTime with all of my friends who have moved.
2. Continue organizing my school items / projects / paperwork etc. Am I the only one who feels overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork there is in teaching??
3. Leave work at a reasonable hour 3 out of 5 days during the week (it's crazy that the custodians are leaving on some nights before me).

Downtime - This year I want to try to enjoy my downtime by doing something that I love ~ hanging out with my friends and family. I already have a few road trips and mini vacations lined up for this year that I'm looking forward to.
My blog goal - I like Amanda's goal for this (click here to read her post). . . I need to figure out a good format for me to use to read all of the blogs that I follow. Sooooo many blogs, such little time. I'm still trying to find the best way for me to keep up with everyone's posts ~ any suggestions???
I'm also linking up with Michelle from Making It As A Middle School Teacher for her Linky Party.
Well there you have it. 13 things that I am looking forward to in 2013. Thanks for reading through my linky-pa-looza. If you want to join in on the fun be sure to click on any of the blue links above. Thank you for a great 2012. Have a safe New Year. . . talk to you in 2013.

So today is THE day. . . I am taking the leap and hosting my very first linky party.
5. I took an individual picture of each child holding up this 12-12-12 sign. Since I can't show you their faces, I snagged our Media Specialist and Principal in the hallway to take this picture.
I hope everyone had a chance to take some pictures of your day. Here are some of the random pictures that I took of my life today.
1. WOW 7:40 for me is actually doing pretty good. I was only five minutes late to work today (I hope my principal isn't reading this post)
2. Kindergarten math time ~ my kids are really getting the hang of making their own T-charts and recording their data.
3. My first graders go to different first grade teachers for their math block. Look at some of the neat things they made.
4. One of the perks of teaching a K/1 combination ~ one of my firsties reading their weekly story to a kinder.
6. Brain break ~ working on our 12-12-12 necklaces.
8. Writing time ~ first grade sheet.
10. Craftivity ~ The Grinch's growing heart.
12. Another partner in crime popped by to say hi after school and started helping me hang my Grinch hearts on the wall. I can't say it enough, my friends ROCK!!!
Well there you have it 12 random things from my day. So how was your day? It's time to link up and join the fun. A special thank you again to Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for coming up with this great idea and for passing the torch on over to me.
Before I leave I have one last picture to share. I took this picture at exactly 12:12 and 12 seconds today. How cool is that???

We called this our 12,12,12,12,12 and 12 seconds picture |
I know, I know. . . TECHNICALLY that makes 13 pictures but it's my party and I think I can bend the rules just a little bit. SHINE on everyone.

I'm hosting my very FIRST LINKY party (can I get a woop, woop)???? During the Summer Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching hosted the linky 12 on the 12th where people posted 12 random pictures from the 12th day of the month. Kacey has passed the torch on to me (YIKES) and I think it's time to bring this party back (at least for the day).
Grab your cameras, phones, iPads etc. and start snapping away on WEDNESDAY 12-12-12. Feel free to take whatever pictures you would like (just keep it clean) and then come back and join the party. If you are anything like me, I love seeing what everyone else in blogland is up to so come on, join the party and be nosey with me.
Here is a writing packet that I just created to use tomorrow with my kids. . . I hope you can use it.
Well I'm off to figure out how to do a linky. . . see you on Wednesday.

Today I am linking up with one of my favorite bloggers Hadar from Miss Kindergarten for her Teaching Tip Linky Party. I have a really simple tip that I use in class with my kids every year ~ Stamp and Sticker Books.
Growing up I use to love collecting stickers and amazingly kids nowadays still do too. Each child has their very own mini book where they keep their stickers and stamps that they collect. At the beginning of the year I cut 3 - 4 sheets of copy paper in half, staple a cover sheet around it and ta-da a place for kids to hold their stickers.
Nine times out of ten when I give my kids the option of taking a sticker home or putting it in their book, they put it in their book. I think they like the idea that they can go back and look at it whenever they want to. They also seem to like comparing their stamps and stickers with their friends. Whatever the reason. . . the kids love it, I love it and the custodians love that they don't have to peel fallen stickers up off the ground.
So there you have it short, simple and cheap. If you want to join the party, click here. Well I'm off to read some more teaching tips.

My dishes are piled up in the sink, I have tons of laundry to do, I've eaten take-out every day this week and my feet hurt. When you add all of these things up it must mean one thing ~ I started pre-planning this week. You guys know how the beginning of the year is. I think I can sum up my week with this picture.
Meetings, training sessions, setting up the classroom, meet the teacher night, meet the teacher day WHEW it's been crazy. Oh and by the way did I mention . . . wait for it . . .wait for it. . . on my second day back I found out that I am no longer a first grade teacher (I'll pause for your gasps) I am now a kindergarten / first grade combo class teacher. How's that going to work ~ I'm not sure yet but stay tuned. Now you see why I picked the picture above.
Just for fun, I am linking up today with Jeannie from Kindergarten Lifestyle for her party You Know It's Back to School Time When. . .
I start school tomorrow so bye-bye Summer, it's time to step back into reality. Before I head out I wanted to say thank you to everyone who entered my Summer-bration Giveaway. Congratulations to Catherine E. Ann G. and Tamera W. Be sure to check your email later for a message from me.

Well I'm off to go hang out with one of my teaching pals. It's become a tradition that we get together the day before school starts to try to get our minds off of tomorrow. Our plans usually involves shopping and some kind of comfort food as we cry about the end of our summer break. I guess my dishes will just have to wait.

So I'm getting ready Monday morning and my phone rings and it's my principal. I honestly couldn't tell you what she said after "Hi Stacy this is Mrs. ______" because I think I went into some kind of shock. I do know that ten minutes later and ~ ~ I am now a first grade teacher -YIKES! Oh by the way, did I mention for the past 17 years I have ONLY taught kindergarten?
There are tons of reasons why I am excited to make this change but I'm not gonna lie. . . I'm a little SCARED! This is soooooooo out of my comfort zone. Needless to say I have already called / texted all of my first grade friends, called my new grade chair and started a first grade board on pinterest. If anyone has some first grade links, tips, blogs or ideas please, please, please send them my way.
Well my philosophy is when life gives you lemons ~ join Mrs. Lemons' Linky Party.
So here are some things about me:
1. I was born in Kingston, Jamaica but I grew up in Miami, Florida.
2. I started college when I was 16 (I turned 17 two days later).
3. Speaking of college, I went to the University of Florida GO GATORS. I was actually in school when Emmett Smith was there pre, pre, pre Dancing With The Stars.
4. I've been to Paris, Italy and England.
5. I love baking but I HATE cooking.
6. I was once on stage with Bob Barker and a winner of The Price is Right who I just met that morning.
7. My sister and I flew to Vegas last year to see a Sting concert.
8. I am addicted to Micky D's sweet tea.
9. My mom and I have driven to Miami (4 hour drive one way) several times just for lunch.
10. I'm a little bit addicted to reality T.V. Some of my favorites are: Amazing Race, Storage Wars, Project Runway, The Real Housewives of (fill in the blank), Hollywood Exes, Big Brother, Bridezillas, and Teen Mom (don't judge me).
Since I've already answered most of the questions, I'm going to join the Newbie hop hosted by Grade Three Is The Place For Me. Here are the rest of my answers for the party.
* * I teach in Florida.
* * I started posting at the end of January.
* * My blogging tip is don't be afraid to ask questions. I have learned so much by simply asking my fellow bloggers.
I know, I know three linkys in one post is crazy but joining up with Fierce In Fourth was really a no-brainer. To join this party Ashley would like to know 3 things that I am jittery about for this new year.
1. We are getting a new assistant principal this year. My old A.P. was with our school since we opened and she and I had a great working relationship. . . I'm going to miss her.
2. We are implementing lots of new things this year including: Common Core Standards, On-line Grade Book, and Performance Based Teacher Evaluation System. Just typing the list makes me jittery.
3. Helllllllooooooooo, did I tell you that after teaching kindergarten for 17 years I will be teaching first grade next year????
